Happy 4th o'July ya'll! I got my burger fresh off the grill, I got my coke, I got my neighbor right outside my window blaring 80's music and screaming at her kids not to throw the firecrackers in the kiddie pool.

Go Amurika! Don't blow off yer fingers!

There's a few of you who have already spoken to me about commissions.  You're already on the (to-do) list and don't need to worry about the auction. And here's a LOLCat for your amusement. cat

HURRAH! JESSE HELMS IS FINALLY DEAD!

Join in the relief that the wicked old bastard has finally gone to the torment decreed by his own warped beliefs by playing "Ding! Dong!" by Klaus Nomi - his version of "Ding, Dong, The Witch Is Dead." As Klaus Nomi was not only a flamboyant gay man, but one of the first to succumb to AIDS, one can only see using his music to usher Helms into his fiery pit as entirely appropriate....

Going on day 3 with the new dog and loving it. I cleaned the house so she does not ingest pins, or anything of the sort. The other 2 dogs know how to avoid pretty much everything in the work room, but the puppy is new to it and getting adjusted. I put a bed in the workroom for her, under my sewing table. All she does is sleep when I work, which is a big plus :).

She mastered the stairs yesterday. So she goes up and down 2 flights of stairs without a worry. So no gate to put up so she doesn't tumble down the stairs.

Turned on roomba by accident, as she keeps climbing things. This was the photo right before roomba left the station. Oops

Right now she follows me everywhere. Took her for a walk last night to see how far she would go and she has a ton of energy. She is slowly listening to her name, we tend to just say Nattie, so she comes to us. Very happy, and a huge appetite. Nights have been noisy as she likes to cry when we leave her in the laundry room. She will be my first dog that will not sleep in the bed, I just need one that sleeps in her own bed. I am learning a whole new set of rules with this one, but a lot of fun. She is making me keep the house cleaner and making me get up and going much earlier which is a plus. Michelle and Filipa are very offended that I brought another dog in. I am giving them some time, Michelle looks like she will warm up to her first. Filipa might need more time.

I know it's bad for my wallet to eat out as often as I have been the last week, BUT...

...is it bad for me if it's vegan or actually healthy?

Once all my meat is gone I'm not buying any more; going to try going vegetarian again for the last month I'm here, so from approximately three weeks from yesterday.

Whoa. That actually sounds pretty close. Between trying to get visas and flights, hotels and insurance sorted for The Trip, trying to find a new job in Korea, organising my vacation, copious quantities of OT, cardio on Tuesdays, Yoga on Wednesdays, Pilates on Thursdays, Seoul Writers' Group every second Sunday, journalling projects, ATCs, my reading goals and crafting for charity... my weeks are packed.

My weekends kind of mirror that. Saturday morning, meeting with Linda (after going to the post office), picking up passport, paying for an airline ticket, meeting up with Rich and April, drinks night at Kathryn's that night. Sunday probably studying, making cards, working on my reading goals and finishing the green-and-blue snuggle. Maybe starting the pink and purple one, too.

Maybe I should go to the Seoul Stitch and Bitch this Sunday instead?

...I'm nuts.

You know, I really like being a mentor. I've coached newbie vampires through figuring out what to do with a donor, I've talked axious furries through "coming out" to their parents, I've even advised one really nervous transwoman on sex, which was kind of amusing, since she assumed I was a genetic male, and I never did get around to telling her otherwise. I knew what she needed to know, in any case. I like being able to give someone advice that they want to have. I wish I could do it more often, really. But opportunities are often far between. Most people don't need or want advice, they just want reassurance and comfort. I'm not as good at offering that, really. Too honest. :) But it would be nice to be able to mentor more often.

Oh, and while I'm wishing things, I wish a certain somebody was bi. It'd make my life so much less depressing.

Ah well.

So I know that the Master has stolen bodies after he's used up his regenerations.  How exactly does he go about this body snatching?  Is it always the same, or is it different every time?  And if it is different, what he has done in the past?  Thanks.

I'm currently editing a book that is to be published by my university soon, and something has been troubling me. My professor seems to think that when quotations are used, the period should be kept within the quotation marks:

Labov (1972) has referred to this phenomenon as "the observer's paradox."

instead of

Labov (1972) has referred to this phenomenon as "the observer's paradox".

Is this right? I'm extremely frustrated because I've always learnt that the period should be after the quotation mark, but my professor claims that it is the convention to put it within quotation marks.

Lola Jake - Again.

Jul. 3rd, 2008 | 11:42 pm
posted by: sneakersjay in ftm_in_bed

For those guys here who have purchased a Lola-Jake, how long did it take you to receive your item?  Did you receive any communication from them at all regarding your order?  It's been 31 business days since I placed my order and their website says 21 days max for delivery.  The only email I've received from them was a receipt for payment.  Otherwise all communication has been initiated by me.  I was told it would ship a week ago Monday, and when it didn't arrive I was told it would ship last friday and would take 3 days.  And here it is 4 business days later (nearly a week) and NO ITEM.  I inquired yesterday and have yet to receive any tracking number.

Yes I'm a bit impatient but I also feel I forked over good money ($600) and deserve a little bit more communication.  Is this normal for them?

Getting frustrated.
